Shifting from one home to another can be very stressful and chaotic, especially if you are doing it for the first time. But the good thing is this process is short and once you have shifted, you can look forward to decorating your new home in a new way. Following are some tips that can help you make the process of shifting a less chaotic and stressful:
- Start Packing Early
Well, when it comes to packing your stuff for shifting to a new house, it is better to start packing at your earliest. This is because packing is not only tiring but is also a time-consuming project. So it is better to start as soon as you decide to move to a new house. You should start packing with things that you use least in daily life like your guest room things and winter clothes if you’re moving in summers and vice versa. This way you won’t be packing and unpacking again and again.
- Visit Your New House Before Shifting
You should always visit the new house before shifting. You will be able to point out anything that you do not like or is damaged. You can easily get damaged things repaired before moving in. Moreover, you will be able to plan beforehand on things you will be needing in different rooms. It will also give you time to think about how you want to decorate your new house.
- Use Good Quality Shifting Material
When starting your packing, make sure the cartons you are using are good quality and can survive the shift. Moreover, check for any crack or bends in cartons and also tape them on corners and centre so that it does not tear open or get damaged during shifting. Also use zip ties, plastic bags and bubble wraps especially for delicate things like decoration pieces, dinner sets and so on.
- Labels
Another important thing that can make shifting much easier is labelling your cartons and shifting boxes properly. This way you will know the contents of the box without opening it. So you will not have to waste your precious time in opening boxes and then shifting the stuff you do not need to the other room. If you do not want to write the contents of the box, you can always use color coding stickers or labels to categorize rooms.
- Survival Box
One of the most important things that most people forget is a survival box. Always pack a survival box when shifting to a new house. You can use a plastic box or a tub for keeping essential things like paper towels, electric kettle, disposable plates, cups and cutlery, paper cutter, tea bags or coffee sachets, sugar milk and so on. Always keep toilet paper, you never know when you may need it. Also, keep a pair of clothing in your handbag in case you are too tired to open all cartons the same day.
Above mentioned are a few smart tips for moving into the new house that can make the process easier and less chaotic.
